We were so excited to talk with Elder Bethea on Christmas. We got to talk with him for about five minutes on Christmas Eve to set the time up and it was weird because we weren't sure what to say and he had Elder Barnes and the O'neil family sitting there chatting with him as well. We enjoyed the Christmas call and got to talk for about an hour. He is doing so well. He told us of some hard days that he has had and some struggles with being 100% optimistic but he couldn't imagine being home right now and is so happy he is out there.
He gets to visit the Washington temple (not sure which one is in his district) on January 18th.
Loves the district and Zone Leaders. Has seen one Elder and one Sister from his MTC district go home already because of struggles.
Is getting fed well by the members and loves Nutella and PB sandwiches for breakfast. Food is expensive so if he ever has to make dinner for himself he will eat PB and Honey sandwiches. Also told us there was a lot of Fog (pronounced with a long O sound) and that people say they have been out for "A couple Three" Which means six months.
Favorite Scripture at the moment is 1 Nephi 17:3 about how obedience brings happiness. Favorite quote is "Pray as if everything depends on the Lord. Work as if everything depends on you."
Said he wishes he could play more basketball on pdays and that is why his emails are so short and he doesn't really send land letters.
Loves his brothers and told each of them an individual goodbye. Now the count down begins for our Mother's Day call in 5 months.
